About Artist
Eric Falk
After over 30 years of practicing law and trying cases, photography found me in 2012. I wander with my camera. I am an observer. I love the elements of luck and chance. Surprisingly, in my wanderings, I found a similarity in the photographer making images and the lawyer presenting facts to a jury. In the images I make, I bring my lawyer’s training in documenting facts, capturing what catches my attention in the moment that it caught my attention. I present those facts to the viewer, who sits as the jury in evaluating my images. I consider myself a street photographer, but I am drawn to things, places, people that have been passed by, or are being passed by, in our society. The discarded, the un-noticed, the out of place, even the mundane, are mostly what catches my eye. I combine my lawyer’s training and my photographer’s eye, to show the facts that, in turn, suggest the stories that inhabit an image. As William Eggleston said, "Often, people ask me what I'm photographing, which is a hard question to answer. And the best what I've come up with is I just say: life today." Life today.....that is my photography passion.
