Francois Detaille is a French & Australian fine-art aerial photographer living in Brisbane with his wife and 2 kids. He’s been living in Australia for over 10 years now and every day is still in awe by the beauty of the Australian nature and its fascinating and breathtaking landscapes that he loves sharing via his photography.
His family background is deeply rooted in photography since his father, grand-father and great grand-father were all professional photographers in France. An interesting fact is that his great grandfather was at the time the successor in Marseille of the famous photographer and inventor Nadar, who took the first ever aerial photography back in 1858 above Paris from a hot air balloon.
In 2021, the Detaille Art Studio was launched selling prints in Australia and worldwide via its online gallery. In 2023, he held his first 2 exhibitions here in Brisbane:
“Down To Earth”: a testimony to the amazing Australian coastline, its stunning abstracts and abundant marine life. The exhibition was a success with all the large metal and fine-art framed prints sold out.
“My Future Is In Your Hands”: a Koala photographic exhibition involving local photographers held at Brisbane City Hall with government, industry and community representatives. All sales financed a Koala kindy at the Queensland Koala Society.
In 2024, he travelled across Western Australian in quest of the most breathtaking natural landscapes on the continent. The result is a stunning collection of abstract photographs called "Western Australia from Above: an Abstract Wonderland" just being shared with the public.
This new collection (over 130 photographs in total) will be subject to a future exhibition and a book, as well as a large series of prints available for sales in different sizes and medias to the public and private sectors. It already received several international photography awards and one of the photo has been published on double of the French Le Figaro Magazine.
