About Artist
katie farr
Katie Farr is a British photographer based in the French Alps who is known for her Infrared photography. Farr uses a full spectrum converted camera. This works by removing the IR cut filter that is over the sensor and replacing it with an IR pass filter, the camera becomes fully sensitive to infrared. The human eye can only see wavelengths from about 400nm-700nm (from purple to red); infrared light sits beyond 700nm. In addition, specialised lens filters allow for specific wavelengths to be chosen on the IR spectrum. Farr’s work transports us to another world, it transcends dimensions and allows viewers to see life from another perspective, in a new spectrum of light.
