About Artist
Markus Schroll
The changing aesthetic perceptions in times of digitalization are the subject of Markus Schroll. In impressive series and projects between land art, performance and installation he explores the understanding of the natural and the artificial world by means of time, light elements and movements. The resulting images seem like photomontages, but are self-created scenes & scenarios - a kind of experimental field to capture the "spirit" of a perfect past and to fathom the spirituality of magical beings that might have existed in a perfect nature or world. In doing so, the perfect constellation for one moment plays the decisive role in bringing time to a virtual standstill by means of the camera. Markus Schroll has been honored internationally for his work in numerous solo and group exhibitions in galleries, museums and also festivals. One can certainly highlight the solo exhibitions at the Jose Robles Gallery in Madrid, Tomás y Valiente Art Center (CEART. Madrid); NDSM Tree House (Amsterdam, Holland). Or the participations in group exhibitions, such as :: XVIII Art Biennial of Cerveira, Portugal; Los Angeles Center for Digital Art LACDA, USA; Sala El Brocense, Cáceres or the Würth Museum, La Rioja; etc.... My website :: www.markusschroll.com I also collaborate with the artist Esther Pizarro on various international art projects. We work on immersive and interactive installations that are located on the border between art, science and technology. Our installations explore the visualization of data and complexity in the modern city: mobility, connectivity between cities, polycentric urban systems and the new conditions in the Anthropocene are some of the topics addressed.
