About Artist
Keith Manning
Keith A Manning was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, the United States. He creates primarily black and white portraits and landscapes. Keith interweaves his love of dance, jazz and classical music as well as his appreciation for the beauty and unpredictability of nature as a conduit for the viewer to feel the emotional intensity of his work. He emphasizes the performer’s intimacy with their music. His use of long exposures highlights the moving elements of nature in contrast to the still and timeless evoking energy and serenity for the viewer to absorb. Keith's journalistic portraiture, landscape and event photography is motivated by his support to specific social causes and the struggle for social justice around the world. Keith began his serious study and work in photography in 2011. Since then he has garnered recognition from around the world, including the International Photography Awards and Monovisions Photography Awards. A portrait and a landscape appeared in FOX Broadcasting Company’s drama series in the United States, “Monarch,” starring Susan Sarandon. Keith graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He since lived in Chicago, Boston, Washington DC, New York City, Berlin (Germany), London (England), and Dublin (Ireland). He presently resides in Brooklyn, NY. Keith has also traveled to Cuba, Japan, Taiwan, Australia and numerous European countries. He especially enjoys photographing Iceland. 1 December 2024
