About Artist

Jonathan Moller

Jonathan Moller is an award-winning documentary photographer and human rights activist. Since 1991 Moller has worked mostly in Central America (primarily Guatemala), as well as in Peru and in Cuba. In 2020 he photographed Black Lives Matter graffiti and murals in four cities in the United States. He is the author of two books on Guatemala, Our Culture is Our Resistance (powerHouse Books, New York, 2004) / Nuestra Cultura es Nuestra Resistencia (Turner, Madrid, 2004) and Rescatando Nuestra Nemoria (F&G Editores, Guatemala, 2009), a book about Peru, The Past is Present / Paisajes Ausentes (Turner, Madrid, 2017), and a book about the diversity of young Cubans, Young Cuba / Cuba Joven (Turner, Madrid, 2018 / 2019), Moller has exhibited and spoken widely in the United States, Latin America and Europe, in places as varied as the International Museum of Photography in Rochester, NY, McGill University in Montreal, the European Parliament in Brussels, the University of Granada, Spain, the Biblioteca Nacional del Peru, or the Memorial José Martí Museum in Havana. Moller's works are part of the permanent collections of more than twenty museums, including the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, the Museum of Fine Arts Boston, the Museum of Fine Arts Houston, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, the Brooklyn Museum of Art, the Museo Reina Sofía in Madrid, the Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes in Buenos Aires, the Casa de Las Americas in Havana, and the Museo de Arte in Lima. www.jonathanmoller.org
