Vojtech Darvik Maca (1986) has been focused on documentary and reportage photography for the last ten years, also he used to photograph commercially for the film industry. He depicts the social, cultural and political issues of today, including poverty, people living on the margins of society or with some kind of disability, civic demonstrations, the refugee crisis, Brexit. For his themes he travels mainly to Central and Eastern Europe, however, he has photographed in Turkey and Africa as well. The desire to discover the essence of things, how and why people behave in different situations and the interest in man himself led him to documenting the world around. Images dependent on decisions in a matter of seconds, the impossibility of greater preparations, fascination with events, behaviors and facial expressions in combination with the environment in which he is, led to a creation through which he can mediate „the being of a man“ including what is this man experiencing at the moment. For his photographs he looks for unusual and ordinary scenes of everyday life. In addition to the problems people are going through he captures joyful moments that make this period more enjoyable for them.
