Originating from the mountain town of Jackson Hole, Wyoming USA, Charlie found his way to Melbourne after nearly a decade in New York City. Before studying fine art photography at Bard College in New York, his photographic process was born from documenting the skiing, mountain biking, and travels of his adolescence; subject matter which was transposed to capturing the high jinks and urban freneticism of his young adulthood. Charlie’s dynamic and colourful style captures moments that make the viewer wish they were right there with him: in a sombre era, his imagery stands out for being heartening and intoxicating for its sense and depiction of, quite simply, fun. His energetic, off-the-cuff, and idiosyncratic approach - rooted in a documentary portraiture genre but heavily influenced by his time in the New York fashion scene - translates well into commercial realms, where he has brought his unique vision to lively shoots and campaigns for brands such as Bobby Soda, Chadstone, Dan Murphy’s, Four Pillars, Hope Street Radio, HER, Esquire Magazine, Paramount House Hotel, Rolling Stone Magazine, Rydges, Virgin Australia, W Hotels, and Zodia by Bumble, across Australia and the USA.
