Roberto is a Phnom Penh-based Italian photographer who has a passion for traveling and capturing stories through his lens. His interest in photography began during his early years with a film camera, and after years of traveling for work, he became fascinated by the diverse scenes he witnessed and wanted to document them to share with his friends and family back home. He felt the need to capture the emotional elements behind the pictures and to have the images function as a window into a storytelling experience.
As an avid photographer, Roberto travels around with his motorbike, exploring remote and charming villages, and capturing the beauty of his surroundings through his lens. He is drawn to the people and environment of his adopted home, where he has been living for four years. Roberto loves the friendly and welcoming nature of the locals, who are eager to share their culture and make visitors feel at home. He has had the opportunity to explore both urban and rural areas of his home, capturing the contrasts between ancient temples, lush fields, and modern skyscrapers.
Roberto's passion for photography extends beyond just taking pictures. He actively supports the local community by organizing photo exhibitions and charity events to support environmental conservation and underprivileged local communities. Through his photography, he hopes to bring attention to the beauty of his adopted home and its people, as well as to support the community that has welcomed him with open arms and kind smiles.
Roberto's story is not unique, as there are many talented photographers in his community who use their craft to tell stories and make a difference. These photographers, including Mak Remissa, Leang Bunna, Samnang, Kim Hak, Steve Porte and Shunsuke Miyatake, are part of a community of creatives who use photography to explore and celebrate their surroundings in unexpected ways.
