David is a retired land use/environmental law attorney living in Davis, California. Throughout his legal career, he has engaged in photographic pursuits, including maintaining a personal black and white film darkroom beginning in the late 70’s. He converted solely to digital photography in 2003. In 2015, he began a transition from landscape and cityscape photography to portrait photography after being inspired by attending multiple workshops with the world-renowned portrait photographer, Greg Gorman. Greg taught him how to employ light and shadow on the human figure. David has his own portrait studio in Davis where he now also teaches studio lighting. His portrait work has been included in many group shows in various states and in Berlin, Germany.
