The Innaarsuit Iceberg
In July 2025, big icebergs drifted to the shore of Innaarsuit, a tiny settlement in North Greenland. The municipality issued a warning as the icebergs could have broken to pieces or roll-over, causing waves strong enough to reach the coastal houses.
About Artist
Dennis Lehtonen
Dennis Lehtonen originally began interested in photography through astronomy as he wanted to capture what he saw of planets through the telescope. A sudden encounter in the astronomical observatory of Helsinki with the northern lights however changed the course of his life and the subjects for his photography. He wanted to see the northern lights more frequently in more ideal locations and has since then been living three years in the Finnish Lapland, followed by another three years in remote Greenland. While the night skies still are of great interest to him, he has also found passion to document the remote arctic villages through aerial and architectural photography.
