Purgatory Paradise

Purgatory, Paradise examines civic and commercial architecture across the American landscape. Photographed in moments of stillness, these structures lose their specific functions and become suspended between aspiration and uncertainty, permanence and change.

About Artist

Sinziana Velicescu

Sinziana Velicescu is a Los Angeles–based artist working across urban landscape and architectural photography. Her work examines the relationship between built and natural environments, focusing on how architecture shapes and reflects the American landscape. Through images of civic, commercial, and transitional spaces, she explores contemporary infrastructure and the visual language of the built environment. Her photographs isolate architectural forms and fragments, revealing landscapes suspended between permanence, aspiration, and uncertainty. She has exhibited internationally in solo and group exhibitions across Los Angeles, New York, and Tokyo, and her work has been published as a hardcover monograph.
