Invitation to Story

Denying passive reception of a simple narrative, Invitation to Story asks the viewer to participate in the act of creation, provoking a variety of questions. What is the story? What is story? Who owns a story: the author or the viewer?

About Artist

Paul Harmon

From the age of 12, I was fascinated by form, colour, and light, and the magic that occurred when photographic paper was transformed in the hallowed sanctuary of a darkroom. Throughout my professional life, I worked as a film director in Australia and Asia, making everything from docos and TVCs to drama series and feature films. When I closed my production company in 2011, my interest in photography returned, and it wasn't long before I bought my first serious digital camera and moved to the South of France, where I shot my first series, SouthWinds. Luckily, a Parisienne photographer living in our village saw my work and insisted on holding an exhibition in his gallery. Since then I have won prestigious awards, including the President's Prize at Australia's HeadOn, and have had five exhibitions, culminating in WaterMarks, which garnered significant international attention and was exhibited in the Musée des Confluences in Lyon.
