Granatum: The Cycle of Abundance
Inspired by the symbolism of the pomegranate, this series explores abundance, renewal, and the cycle of life. Split fruits reveal luminous seeds, while deep reds and shadows evoke growth, maturity, decay, and rebirth through a contemporary Baroque visual language.
About Artist
Volkova Nataliia
On February 24, 2022, my life changed forever. The war in Ukraine divided it into two chapters: Before and After. Before the war, I spent nearly four decades as an obstetrician-gynecologist in Kyiv, helping bring new lives into the world. Forced to leave my home, I arrived in Germany as a refugee, unable to continue my medical career. Photography became not simply a new profession, but a new language through which I could understand and express the world around me. Inspired by the Dutch still-life masters of the 17th century, I create Fine Art photographs that combine classical composition with contemporary storytelling. My works explore beauty hidden in ordinary objects—wildflowers, aging fruit, weathered vessels, a quiet snail—revealing that even the simplest moments can carry profound meaning. Today my artistic mission is to remind people that we begin to lose something essential not when the world becomes less beautiful, but when we stop noticing its beauty. Through light, symbolism and carefully constructed still lifes, I invite viewers to pause, look more closely, and rediscover wonder in everyday life. My work has been recognized internationally, including: • Top 10 Fine Art Photographers World (2024, 2025)-OneEyeland • Top 10 Women Photographers World (2024) — OneEyeland • Germany Rank #1FineArt Photographer2024,2025 — OneEyeland • Best of 2025 Photography Collection — Saatchi Art • Multiple international awards and nominations including FAPA and reFocus Awards. Today I live and work between Germany and Croatia, continuing to build a contemporary visual language inspired by classical painting.
