Bones of the Coast

What remains when the tide recedes. Decades swallowed by saltwater have stripped this forest to its architectural essence. These salt-bleached spires stand as haunting, skeletal monuments to an ecosystem frozen in time—a graveyard reclaimed by the sea.

About Artist

Jim Williams

- A Photographic Renaissance - My journey with photography began over 25 years ago, rooted in the discipline of the analog era. Learning the trade on a Minolta Maxxum 7000—the world’s first successful autofocus SLR—provided me with a foundational understanding of the "hard way" of manual composition and the delicate nuances of film. Those early years were my technical apprenticeship, teaching me to see light and structure before the convenience of the digital age. After a nearly two-decade hiatus to focus on raising my family, my passion for the craft was unexpectedly reignited in 2024. Seeing the spark of photography through my son’s eyes as he began his own studies brought me back to my own dust-covered gear and a realization that my journey was far from over. Today, I am navigating a personal and technical renaissance. Transitioning to a Canon 90D has allowed me to bridge my traditional roots with the expansive creative possibilities of digital technology. I consider myself a dedicated student of the medium, currently focusing my exploration on Fine Art, Landscapes, and the intricate details found in Nature and Macro photography. I don't view my work through the lens of a master, but rather as an evolving learner. Each project is an opportunity to refine my perspective, relearn the rules of light, and discover how modern tools can elevate a lifelong passion. For me, photography is not just about the final image, but the ongoing process of learning to see the world anew.
