Wilder

At Erindi Private Game Reserve in Namibia, the guides were tracking a lion named “Wilder”. With the sky so clear and dark in June, I suggested we photograph Wilder with the Milky Way. This portrait combines two images taken moments apart, one exposing for Wilder and the other for the Milky Way.

About Artist

Donal Boyd

Conservation of Wildlife & Nature Through Visual Advocacy. Donal Boyd is an American-born wildlife conservationist, artist, and photographer. His intimate portraits of the world's most threatened wildlife establish a sense of closeness, familiarity, and emotional connection between viewers and the subjects he depicts. Donal’s highly aesthetic imagery is accomplished by distilling the most visually punctual elements of wildlife through post-processing techniques that push the boundaries of traditional wildlife portraiture. Ultimately, Donal presents his art as a form of ‘visual advocacy’ to promote the conservation of wildlife and nature through the depiction of each individual animal’s portrait and story.
