Wave After Wave

The image captures the DC Tower in Vienna, Austria, reaching towards the grey sky, creating a visual of black glass waves. The tower’s sleek and modern design stands out against the overcast backdrop, with its reflective glass facade resembling undulating waves frozen in time.

About Artist

Ieva Gaile

I am a 28-year-old lawyer from Vilnius, Lithuania. In 2020, I completed my Master's degree in Law at Vilnius University and commenced my career at SEB bank, specializing in contract law. As a child, I dreamed of becoming an architect. This interest in shaping space according to my taste has not disappeared, and now it manifests itself in photographing architecture. I have found that the discipline and attention to detail that I developed through my legal studies have significantly influenced my approach to photography. The strictness and precision inherent in law subconsciously manifest in my photographic work - my photos are characterized by a strict logical composition, a thoughtful relationship between lines and colors, juxtaposition of various forms and structures. Photography, to me, embodies a visual philosophy where architecture, cityscapes, and people become a canvas to express my perception of the world. While I am an amateur photographer, I have received positive feedback from fellow photographers on social media, which has encouraged me to submit my work to international contests. Recently, I was thrilled to learn that one of my images - ‘From Fascism to Fendi‘ – made it to the shortlist of the European Region in the prestigious Sony World Photography Awards 2024. I will also be hosting my first solo exhibition in Vilnius in October 2024.
