About Artist
Dimitris Sideridis
Dimitris Sideridis was born in Istanbul and raised in Athens. He is a producer, filmmaker, photographer, and visual artist. He is the founder of Imagefields Lab, a film production company based in Athens. Imagefields Lab specializes in the production of documentaries and fiction films, the creation of mixed-media art projects, and the organization of educational workshops. Its vision is to develop works that captivate, provoke thought, and transform the audience’s experience. As a filmmaker, he is the creator and producer of the feature-length documentary Brothers in Wrestling, which was selected to participate in MEDIMED | The Euro-Mediterranean Documentary Market in Barcelona. The film is currently in post-production. As a visual artist, a significant part of his work focuses on exploring memory as a process of identity formation — both personal and collective. He approaches the media he uses (photography, video, mixed media, installation, painting, drawing, poetry) not only as documentary tools, but also as means of interpretation, reimagination, and transformation of lived experience. He is particularly interested in how the image activates mechanisms of recall and loss, while functioning simultaneously as a narrative tool and a medium for re-signifying identity over time. In parallel, another strand of his work revolves around an open-ended exploration of selfhood and the existential questions that arise in relation to human existence, the environment, and the structures that shape them. His artistic practice often engages with philosophical, political, and anthropological issues. These works operate as spaces of observation, critical reflection, and inquiry, capturing the fragility, contradictions, and transformations of the human condition. He is a collaborator of CNN and Al Jazeera Media Network, two of the world’s leading news organizations. His work has been honored with international awards and distinctions, and has been exhibited both in Greece and internationally. He has also self-published the photo book Rafael Trejo – Dukes on the Ropes, which received the Gold Award at PX3 – Prix de la Photographie Paris (2020) and the Silver Award at the Moscow International Foto Awards (2021). He holds a Master’s degree in “Photography in Arts and Visual Language” from Middlesex University, London. 2024 - Tokyo Int.Foto Awards: Silver/Bronze Winner: Soil is our Mother - Budapest Int.Foto Awards: Gold/Bronze Winner: Soil is our Mother - PX3 – State Of The World: Shortlist - Curator Selection: Soil is our Mother - PX3: HM: Soil is our Mother - DODHO Magazine: The 100 Best Images of the Portrait Photography Awards 2023 - Monovisions B/W Photography Awards HM: Women Refugees - 9th Fine Art Photography Awards Nominee: Women Refugees - MUSE Photography Awards 2023 Platinum Winner: Memory and Loss Gold Winner: Memory and Loss Silver Winner: As Long As It Lasts - APA-Annual Photography Awards 2022 HM: Passage HM: Women Refugees HM: Workers on Lunch Break - LICC-London International Creative Competition 2022 Off.Selection: Memory and Loss (Short Video) - Monochrome Photography B/W Awards 2022 HM: Women Refugees 2022 - Tokyo Int.Foto Awards Bronze Winner: Women Refugees Off.Selection: Women Refugees - Chromatic Awards 2022 2nd Place: Hidden HM: Seaweeds - Budapest Int.Foto Awards: Silver Winner: Loss and Memory Bronze Winner: Passage HM: Women Refugees - 10th Olympic Photo Circuit 2022: GAP HM 6 Hermes Salon: Break Nominee’s APOLLO Salon: Break Women Refugees - PX3: Bronze Winner: Women Refugees - reFocus Awards: People’s Vote Winner: Women Refugees Break”/Rafael Trejo – Dukes on the Ropes Nominee’s: The woman and her dog Seaweeds Place and Memory Arab Night At The Souq Passage 2021 - Moscow Int.Foto Awards: Silver Winner: Rafael Trejo-Dukes on the Ropes (Book/Documentary) HM: Hellenikon - PX3: Bronze Winner: Hellenikon 2020 - PX3: Gold Winner: Rafael Trejo-Dukes on the Ropes (Book/Documentary) - Fine Art Photography Awards Nominee: Rafael Trejo-Dukes on the Ropes - Annual Photography Awards HM: Rafael Trejo-Dukes on the Ropes - Tokyo Int.Foto Awards HM: Rafael Trejo-Dukes on the Ropes” (Book/Documentary) Hellenikon - Budapest Int.Foto Awards HM: Hellenikon - Chromatic Awards HM: Arab Night At The Souq 2019 - IPA - Int.Photo Awards HM: Arab Night At The Souq 2018 - PX3: HM: Nicosia Airport - Monovisions Photography Awards HM: Nicosia Airport
