"The Long Road"

08-15-1984. Nikon FM2, manual 400mm f/5.6, Ilford HP5. Searching for front page art, I spotted a runner ahead, drove up the hill, sprinted into the street, and captured him running amid the atmospheric haze of a summer evening—a solitary figure on an endless road.

About Artist

David Liam Kyle

At 70, I'm more passionate about photography than I was four decades ago—turns out experience matters. My journey began at small-town community papers and led to 15 years as a contributing photographer for Sports Illustrated, where I landed five covers. For 34 years, I've been shooting from NBA sidelines, and I'm still there today. Lately, I've been pulling some of my old journalism favorites from the negatives—real images, real moments that deserve to be seen again. The camera still feels right in my hands. I'll keep shooting as long as they're steady and the light is good. www.davidliamkyle.com
