Descended from 200 Swiss farmers who immigrated to America in the 1700’s, today some 17,000 Amish maintain a pre-modern lifestyle without benefit of cars, computers, or phones. This insular agricultural community is centered on family and fellowship, guided by strictly observed Amish doctrine.
