Irish Citizen -raised in UK and came to USA in 1992 ...I have a fine Art degree specializing in Visual Communication from Trent university Nottingham ,England. Lat 8 years I have spent several weeks every summer documenting the Apsáalooke Relay Riders from Crow Country Montana ...as they compete on the North American 'Indian Relay Circuit ' this is a long term self Funded Photo Essay."The Amazing Relay Riders'-A Sport -A Community-A Way of Life.This Project started out as a Creative endeavor and has turned into a Spiritual journey as one of the Families I have been photographing for last 8 years The OldElks and OldChiefs from Lodge Grass Montana adopted me into their Family-I have given over 3000 prints and have sold works that all proceeds have gone directly back into helping this Community. I Live in Los Angeles and am a Union member that works on Commercial Film sets for last 28 years and for past 7 years I have been taking Portraits of below the line workers -a Project called 'Hollywood Carnies'- Documentary and Portraiture are the 'Ying' of my work and Landscapes are the 'Yang',one is fast paced string to capture moments and stories unfolding before my eyes ,I have to be quick and sometimes milliseconds will determine if I have captures my intent -The Other is slow,hiking in with gear -all alone ,hearing my body breath and move with the exertion and then waiting for light ,often Hours to capture the Intent.
