About Artist
Andrea Federico Santicoli
The passion for photography was born from an unexpected chat that initially sparked curiosity in me. On March 8, 2020 I bought my first camera and with the first shot I felt I had within me the love for the object itself and for what we can do together. My knowledge of photography, photographic techniques and the camera was absolutely zero or little more. My tenacity has allowed me to acquire, day after day, the necessary tools to be able to photograph by focusing on portraits, often even stolen ones, in search of people's souls. After an initial period of color photographs, I found myself completely spontaneously transforming them into black and white, until I made the drastic decision to purchase a Leica Monochrom camera, a choice perhaps a little difficult, but always faithful to what I felt inside and I still haven't regretted it. From that moment it has been a continuous flow of exploration not only of portraits but also nature and street photohrapghy: the perfect combination of everything that excites me about life. Why black and white? “When you photograph people in color, you photograph their clothes. But when you photograph people in black and white, you photograph their soul” This is Ted Grant's aphorism, which I totally embrace. My point of view and my shots have the unique perspective of a person in a wheelchair who has found their artistic expression in photography.
