`Her love of travel, the spontaneous encounters with people along the way, who figure like models, the precision in the choice of decor and staging are primary components of Milette Raats' photography. This longing for making connection are recorded on both analog and digital equipment. In her 'tableaux vivants' she intuitively plays with elements from different eras and the encounter contributes to the melancholy story. In addition to her autonomous work, Milette Raats is also known for her commissioned work in portraits. Her autonomous work has been nominated several times both nationally and internationally. Among others the Amsterdam Museum acquired six works for its permanent art collection.
