Ofelea and the Flying Balloons

This image is part of a larger body of work titled 'Ofelea'. It stems from Freud's theory of 'The Uncanny' - the effect that's created when one is uncertain about whether an object or a person is animate or inanimate or when something that was meant to remain hidden has now come out into the open.

About Artist

Vikram Kushwah

Vikram Kushwah is an India born photography artist based in England. Shortlisted by the National Portrait Gallery London for the Taylor Wessing Portrait Prize 2019, and Portrait of Britain 2018 and 2019 winner (by the British Journal of Photography), he spent his formative years in boarding school in the foothills of Northern India. Vikram moved to England in 2008 for a PG diploma in photography at the London College of Communication before completing an MA in Photography at the University for the Creative Arts, Rochester in 2010. He has since been practicing in the UK and India across fashion, art and portraiture. His collector base spans four continents. He focusses primarily on self initiated art projects besides working for fashion and arts and culture based publications. "Constantly searching without looking for anything - a paradox. It looks like being lost, but I know I’m just being led. I tell stories of the world we live in, and sometimes of an imagined one. Eventually, it all leads me inward, on a path to knowing myself. I rest in the knowledge that ultimately we are not separate from one another. We are part of the whole.”
