I am a humanitarian photographer dedicated to illuminating the lives and stories of people and communities often overlooked. Through powerful visual storytelling, I capture moments of grace, beauty, resilience, dignity, and strength in challenging situations, fostering understanding and empathy. I am the author of MIS[S] UNDERSTOOD, a book about the women in the Irish Traveller community, highlighting their vital role in family and cultural life. It’s so easy to look at a person or a group of people who are different than us and judge them. I strive to build bridges and break down walls. I continue to explore creative storytelling across multiple mediums. Passionate about representation in STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math), I am working on a project showcasing African American professionals as role models for students of color. This work is especially timely in response to evolving diversity challenges in the current political landscape. I received my first Humanitarian Award for my film "Sounds of the Sidewalk: A Journey of Goodbye,". It tells the story of a homeless man who finally felt loved by a choir that became his new family. My work on child labor in Costa Rica, creating child care centers in the coffee fields so children under 12 can stay there for the day instead of working with their parents in the coffee fields, brought another Humanitarian Award. My interest in longevity and aging has taken me down another path. Globally, populations are aging rapidly. Many older women face financial disparities due to economic, social, and cultural differences. My project HOLDING ON : WOMEN WHO REMAIN explores the stories of elderly women in the Balkans who have survived many hardships: communism, war, genocide, gender migration, and political upheavals. Documentary photography cannot solve injustice, but it can preserve memory, foster better understanding, and invite conversations. History is never over. It continues to shape our daily lives. It is generational. In a world saturated with images, I am grateful to help my viewers see others with humanity and compassion.
