Michał Korta is an accomplished Polish photographer known for his evocative portrait and documentary work, focusing on the intersection of people, place, and social issues. Born and raised in Poland, he lives and works near Krakow. He studied photography at the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow and German Literature at Jagiellonian University. Alongside his commercial work, he has pursued personal projects across Central Asia, the U.S., Israel, Africa, and the Balkans since 2006.
Korta’s photography has been featured in solo and group exhibitions across Poland, Italy, Israel, Spain, Germany, and the UK. He has published three photobooks, including Balkan Playground, which was nominated as one of Poland's best photobooks in 2018. His clients include galleries, publishers, humanitarian organizations, and major press outlets. As a recognized photography lecturer, Korta explores the art and philosophy behind the medium in his teachings.
In his personal work, Korta merges intimate portraits with images of human-altered landscapes, exploring themes of identity, social dynamics, territorial issues, and unexpected encounters. Art Verse named him one of the top five Eastern European photographers to know in 2016.
