About Artist

Andrew Pounder

Andrew Pounder Fine Art Photographer Based in Newcastle Upon Tyne, UK, my fine art photography practice is an exploration of light, structure, and the diverse environments of North East England. Having transitioned to fine art after an extensive career in Information Technology and Cyber Security, I bring a methodical yet unbound approach to my creative work. I deliberately resist the confines of a single genre, finding creative vitality in photographic diversity. My portfolio spans sweeping coastal landscapes, dynamic urban cityscapes, monochrome street documentary, and intricate still-life compositions. I frequently utilize High Dynamic Range (HDR) and stark black-and-white techniques to extract the full spectrum of detail, drama, and emotion from a scene, stripping away distractions to reveal its core narrative. Current Focus & Wall Space North (WSN) My current work is deeply rooted in the profound beauty and industrial heritage of my native Northeast. From the striking architecture of Newcastle and Sunderland to the rugged Northumberland coastal towns and historic County Durham, these regional landscapes form the cornerstone of my portfolio. This regional focus is the driving force behind my primary commercial venture, Wall Space North (WSN). Through WSN, I provide an innovative "Art-as-a-Service" subscription model, supplying curated, high-impact regional fine art photography to corporate environments. My participation in prestigious open calls, international competitions, and gallery exhibitions serves a vital dual purpose: it continually challenges and validates my artistic vision on a global stage, while simultaneously elevating the provenance, desirability, and value of the framed, limited-edition pieces I supply to my corporate collectors. Selected Achievements & Recognition Arrival Gallery, London: Digital inclusion of "Redcar Wind Turbines" for the Summer Anniversary Exhibition. Royal Photographic Society (RPS): Documentary photography feature published in the RPS Contemporary Group's Concept magazine. ReFocus Awards: Multiple Honourable Mentions across the Street and Wildlife categories. Black & White Spider Awards / B&W Awards: Honourable Mention recognition (2023). ArtDoc Photography Magazine: Featured online publication for the monochrome pictorial project, Two-Tone Toon. Representation & Collaboration I am actively seeking to partner and collaborate with UK-based and international galleries for representation and exhibition opportunities. My goal is to build relationships that bridge the gap between contemporary fine art exhibition and commercial corporate curation.
