I’m not one to talk about myself, but I believe photography takes on greater meaning when you recognize who’s behind the camera. So here I go. I’m Alex. A western photographer. I capture moments with wild horses and the incredible landscapes they live in. I was born and raised in Ogden, Utah. I belong here. I love the mountains, the rivers and lakes, the wildlife, the sunsets over the open fields, the honesty and resilience of the cowboy way. I get to enjoy it all with my beautiful wife and two daughters. Horses have always been a huge part my life. They’ve schooled me and instilled hard work, respect and trust. I grew up in the rodeo arena, wrestling steers and traveling to rodeos. My father-in-law taught me how to shoe horses at a young age, and I’ve been keeping horses sound and moving for over 27 years. I recently had the privilege of teaching my son-in-law the art, science, and grind of our profession. The legacy continues. Even now, with a camera in hand, I seek horses. Wild ones. There is something divine about existing in their uncontrolled world. Just watching. Observing how they interact when there’s no job to be done, when they’re free to simply be a horse. It’s peaceful and invigorating. Their spirits are almost tangible. I’m more than happy to spend an entire day without another human soul, just waiting for those real and wild moments you get see through my lens.
