Photos, for me, are about telling stores. It could be the story of a place I have been or the changing face of Sydney, an interpretive series on isolation issues, or the importance of touch in the lives of men.
Some photographic works I like to leave as photos, others I am passionate about mapping across into printmaking as either etchings, lithographs or photopolymer prints.
The tactile quality of a print, invokes a feeling and connection that moves beyond the initial captured image and leads to deeper exploration.
Printing and printmaking, for me, are about making photos into more than ephemeral items on a screen. It is about exploring how to transform photographs into visual stories.
Sometimes I want the viewer just to be lost in an image of elegant beauty, and at others, I want them to be challenged...
But for me, the end result should always stand on its own as a thing of grace, simplicity and beauty.
