From my MOLD ART series. One of those slides which had accumulated layers of mold over the years. I took this photo of a Bastille Day military fly over in Paris in 1991. I found it in my archives in 2021. Pure mold and untouched by Photoshop! Magic!

About Artist

Brenda Turnnidge

I’m a Paris-based photographer, an Anglo-Greek, naturalized French who has built up a huge body of work over the last 4 decades. In the 1980’s I was based in Asia, since then I’ve traveled regularly and enthusiastically with my eyes wide open and my camera at the ready. My travels & my constant search for the unusual, the quirky, the cross-cultural combined with certain eureka moments have given me a unique vision of the world I photograph. My photographs document our ever-changing world, caught between tradition and modernity; they have featured in solo and group exhibitions in Hong Kong, Macau, Gwangju (Korea), Tokyo, New York, London, Turin, Lisbon , Arles and Paris. In urban areas I’m fascinated by walls where slogans, posters and street art frantically fight for space and then fade away. In 2010, I started documenting the Greek crisis as told by the walls of Athens; this was the theme of several Paris exhibitions. Multiculturalism and identity are frequently recurring themes in my work. I also specialize in hand-tinting on fibre-based B&W photographs where the result is often surreal with orange skies, crimson streets and purple haze. Recently, I carried out 2 photographic assignments for UNESCO on the life of Buddha in Nepal and India. Currently, I’m putting the finishing touches to a major project on Multi-Cultural Paris.
