Maja Strgar Kurečić is a fine art photographer and a Professor of photography at the Faculty of Graphic Arts, University of Zagreb, Croatia. She also teach photography at the New Media Design Faculty at RIT Croatia (Rochester Institute of Technology). She has been involved in photography for over 25 years. At the beginning of her career, Maja engaged mostly in advertising and journalistic photography. The last few years she devoted to projects that fall within the field of abstract photography. She earned international recognition for her recent projects Other Worlds, Escape Landscapes and Floating Garden that won many international awards. She is a five time winner of Julia Margaret Cameron Award in Abstract and Nature Category (17th JMC, 16th JMC, 15th JMC, 13th JMC and 12th JMC), gold winner of IPA 2021 in Nature Category, two times gold winner of Tokyo International Foto Awards in Nature Category (2019, 2021), Abstract Photographer of the Year at Minimalist Photography Awards (2019), etc. In addition to Croatia, she exhibited her works all over the world - from Hong Kong to Oman, Barcelona, Venice, Paris, Cologne, Budapest, San Francisco, etc.
