Ao Dai Charm - Mystique

Prior to 1947, the Ao Dai was commonly worn as daily attire in Vietnam. Today it remains just as representative of the country, but is reserved more often for formal affairs and dress-up occasions. This capture was taken in Vietnam’s ancient capital of Hue.

About Artist

Matt Sievers

Hey, I'm Matt. Hailing from the Pacific Northwest (USA) but based in Vietnam, I am a travel, documentary and fine art photographer focused on capturing the beauty of Vietnam, SE Asia, the US West and beyond. More than the places you go, it is hopefully the people you meet along the way, calling each one home, that leaves the greatest impression. For me, that has always been the true gift of travel: people, and the authentic interactions and conversations you keep with you from those journeys. It is often on those same travels, and through the same interactions and experiences with others, that I find myself imagining just how easily our lives could be switched—that my life could be theirs, and theirs mine? That idea remains a constant source of fascination to me, and a key driver of my creative interest and work.
