I was watching these green sea turtles for a while. At one point I could anticipate where the slight current would take them and myself. I waited for the turtles to get into the position I had in mind and dived down to take this photo. Thanks to the healthy coral it felt as if I was in a garden.

This picture was taken on a dive in the Ningaloo reef, a place that is full of life. I had never taken a picture of a bluespotted ribbontail ray before. That is why I was very happy when I looked under the coral overhang, which formed this kind of cave, where I found this beautiful individual.

The Cave

It was a quiet day on the ocean in Exmouth (Western Australia) when this gentle giant suddenly emerged. Due to the size of its caudal fin, we were only able to see this whale shark for a brief moment. After just one or two flaps of the fin it disappeared as quickly as it had appeared.

Gentle Giant

A beautiful female Caribbean reef shark passed by a big school of fish which resulted in this interesting photo composition. Although the shark was swimming on a different level than the school of fish, the colours and its movement somehow gave the illusion of it blending in.

Discovery of the Year

The Great White shark - the majestiy of the ocean. This photo was taken during a cage dive in Guadalupe Island (diving cages are mandatory by law in Mexico).
It was my first time encountering this shark species and it was absolutely mesmerising. Despite their size, great whites are incredibly agile.
