Bio

Carlos L. Esguerra was born in the Philippines and is now living in New York City. He spent 36 years in the computer field. He took early retirement from the computer field to devote his time to his rediscovered passion – photography. Since 2000, as a non-professional nature and architecture photographer, he has received national and international awards in photography, including the International Photography Awards, Prix de la Photographie Paris, German Mega Circuit, Trierenberg Austrian Circuit, and Pollux Awards, Tokyo International Foto Awards, among others. Since 2001, Esguerra has had solo exhibitions in New York, Chicago, Metro Manila and Bacolod City (Philippines), Berlin (Germany), and Amstelveen (Netherlands). He has participated in group exhibitions in several cities in the United States and in Europe. AWARDS: 2015 - 'The Order of the Knights of Rizal Award in Literature and the Arts', by The Knights of Rizal, New York Chapter. 2014 - 'Distinguished Alumni Award in Culture and the Arts' by the University of the Philippines, his alma mater. 2011- 'Ani ng Dangal' (Harvest of Honors), by the National Council on Culture and the Arts of the Philippines. 2008 - 'Pamana ng Pilipino Presidential Award' (Philippine Heritage Presidential Award) , the highest award given by the President of the Philippines to overseas Filipinos who excel in their fields of endeavor.
