Bio
Multi medium artist Bob Stevens was born in San Francisco. When he was still an infant, his parents moved to the South Bay area of Los Angeles where Bob has resided ever since, always close to his beloved 'Mother Ocean'. His earliest influences were music, theatre, dance and art of all genres. Bob attended Santa Monica college and received his Certificate of Photography in 1968. Within a year of completing that curriculum, he began assisting an advertising photographer and jumped into that arena with immediate success. For the last 40+ years, he has shot major ad campaign for countless brands and clients, has been awarded multiple times both in the US and abroad, featured in Photographis, Communication Arts, and once declared 'Photographer of the Year' by Adweek. He works in live action as well, having directed documentary films, shorts, and over 90 TV commercials, 2 of which appeared on The Super Bowl broadcasts. Regardless of his commercial workload, Bob has always found the time to shoot 'personal work'. and traveled extensively to capture his unique images. His subjects range from photojournalism (inspired by Bresson), to abstract still life (inspired by The Impressionists), and landscapes (inspired by the 'Group f/64 Photography Collective'). As he observes the world around him, Bob feels that the scenes and vignettes he captures, speak to him. He considers his 'raison d'etre', to leave a legacy of inspiring and memorable visuals and their voices.
