When? Now
Mind flight as it all disappears looking toward Little Island from Pier 57 in Manhattan.
About Artist
Carol Addassi
Live and works in New York, NY Carol Addassi is an American artist and photographer whose work explores the interplay of perception, memory, and imagination. Her practice evolved from mastering manual techniques using 35mm to large format cameras, via experimental approaches to analog materials and digital processes, to photomontages created entirely with mobile technology. She considers the iPhone and iPad sophisticated tools for achieving traditional darkroom aesthetics with contemporary digital utilities. Addassi applies a unique process of “reweaving” the visual plane through slow shutter photographs and intentional montage to carry the emotional weight of a moment rather than merely documenting a specific place. Much like playing an instrument, the final form is reached through a rhythmic back-and-forth of layering, texturing, and digital painting. A deliberate rejection of automated filters or generative AI in favor of human touch and instinct.
