The Quiet Precision

A sushi chef reaches forward with quiet precision, placing a single piece with care and pride. Every movement is deliberate, shaped by years of discipline and respect for his craft. Surrounded by the tools of his trade, he embodies the calm artistry of mastery through repetition.

About Artist

Benjamin Hernandez

I’m a photographer exploring the space between stillness and motion, memory and presence. I’m not tied to a single genre; instead, I follow the feeling — sometimes raw, sometimes refined, but always real. Whether I’m documenting the streets of a city, chasing light across distant landscapes, or experimenting in the studio, I’m drawn to honest moments and the stories they carry. Photography, for me, is how I process the world and my place in it. For me, photography is not simply about what’s in front of the lens. It's about what remains afterward — the mood, the weight, the light, the absence, the quiet marks of time. Many of my projects reflect personal experiences, inner dialogues, and the constant push and pull between change and permanence. In recent years, my work has taken me into intentional camera movement, minimalism, and abstraction — not as effects, but as ways to reflect internal states: grief, resilience, longing, and growth. I often say I follow the feeling, and that feeling sometimes takes me toward simplicity, sometimes toward complexity, but always toward honesty. Some of my work lives in formal series — like Still Moving, where I explore emotional states through the language of flowers and motion. Other projects, like my city explorations, capture the layers of life that exist in between moments — often unplanned, often imperfect, but always alive. Though my practice continues to evolve, what remains consistent is my search for images that carry meaning beneath the surface. I believe that even quiet images can speak loud truths. I live and work in Colorado, and my work has been exhibited in juried shows and recognized in international competitions. But at the heart of it, I remain simply a photographer trying to make sense of what I see — and what I feel — one frame at a time.
