I sometimes take photographs. Mostly in black & white, always on film. I look for "it"—the thing I cannot put into words. I don’t know what "it" is; I only know when it is there or not. Sometimes it is subtle, sometimes it is clear. Sometimes it reveals itself years after the photograph has been taken, perhaps because I have changed meanwhile.
