About Artist
Mathias Senfleben
Matzori’s artistic practice explores the subtle emotional territories that exist between presence and absence, stillness and transformation. Working across fine art photography and oil painting, he approaches the image as a contemplative space rather than a document of reality. His works are shaped by a deep sensitivity to light as both a physical and psychological phenomenon — a medium through which atmosphere, memory, and inner states become visible. Influenced by the visual quietness of classical painting and the reduction of contemporary minimalism, he constructs compositions that emphasize slowness, restraint, and timelessness. The human figure often appears as a vessel of mood rather than narrative, dissolving into tonal gradients, shadow, and texture. In this interplay between clarity and ambiguity, his images invite the viewer into an intimate process of perception. By allowing photography and painting to inform and challenge one another, Matzori creates a body of work that questions the boundaries of medium and materiality. His practice ultimately reflects a search for essence — an attempt to translate fleeting emotional experiences into lasting visual form.
