Shinkansen 新幹線 Bullet Train
The Shinkansen bullet train is a symbol of post war Japan - efficiency, speed, technological advancement, smooth, quiet, cleanliness, punctuality, respect, etc. The pictures capture the train captains making safety checks on arrival and departure while keeping watch of the clock ensuring no delays.
About Artist
Mike Foo
I started photography as an alternative outlet to music. As a music buff, I was constantly exposed to magazine and CD/vinyl artwork, etc. Photography just seemed to be a natural second outlet. It allows me to practice it in an individual setting as opposed to music which sometimes need to be in group setting. Being a bit of a home recluse, I'm forced to get out of my comfort zone, sometimes engaging with strangers and take pictures. I didn't know how much comfort and joy I got out of it and have been shooting for about 5-7 years now. My experience with photography was limited to a Kodak Instamatic when I was a child. Since picking up photography, I'm continually amazed at how digital camera technology has improved and that I as a relative newcomer am able to produce shots with impressive visual impact. I've recently branched into film photography now that I feel more confident and familiar with photography. I own a Nikon F4, a cold war Soviet Kiev 6C and recently purchased an old 1971 Norita 66. I do hope to take more pictures and submit them for competition. Regardless whether I win any awards or not, I'm just thankful to be able to do this as a therapeutic outlet.
