Shared Weight
Two men push an overloaded vehicle through an affluent neighborhood while collecting recyclable waste. Workers and machine appear physically aligned by age, effort, and endurance, revealing labor that operates outside dominant time and remains largely unseen.
About Artist
Sergio Fadul
For over 15 years, I worked as an art director in renowned advertising agencies, collaborating closely with some of Brazil’s greatest photographers. This experience — combined with the books that have been with me since I first developed a deep aesthetic and conceptual interest in photography, especially the works of Sebastião Salgado and Ansel Adams — shaped my visual sensibility and taught me to value light, and narrative in every image. Over more than three decades of photographing, I shared my work only within a small circle. Still, each image has always been, for me, an indelible trace of moments that left a mark on me — fragments of time frozen into stories written by shadows and light. Now, I want to share them with all those who also see photography as a way to preserve what time insists on taking away.
