About Artist
Efrat Sela
Born in Jerusalem in 1964 living in Israel, an Interior Architect, and a Photographer. I experimented with art from an early age, and the camera was one of the tools of expression which I employed. Today, I focus on people, social issues, culture, and humanity. These, together with a strong sense of aesthetics, guide my work. As the camera is the direct physical link between the eye and the soul, my photos reflect reality and at the same time tell a story about me, my points of view, and my reflections about the world. I am part of a very political society, a melting pot of cultures, religions, and opinions. The environment guides me in choosing my documentary projects, which are driven by an emotional and critical stance toward issues I cannot remain indifferent to. Over the years, I have learned photography from Masters of various disciplines, as Concept photography supervised by Prof. Boaz Tal; a Documentary long-term project, under the guidance of photojournalist Ziv Koren; A project corresponding with text directed by Prof. Miki Kratsman, a photojournalist, Artist, and activist; And from many other theoretical and practical workshops. Each mentor and learning experience left a profound mark on my personal and professional development. In the past 10 years, I have participated in many group exhibitions, publications, and books worldwide. The last one was at "We Are Here" at the International Center of Photography, NY. In addition, my work has appeared in photography publications and books and has received several awards from respected photography platforms in Israel and around the world.
