Megan Sontag is a primarily self taught multi disciplinary artist who lives and works in Chicago. She picked up a camera at 6 years old and hasn't put one down since. She spent some formative years touring and covering music festivals. Working with musicians remains one of her favorite genres. Some of her accomplishments include: work included in Furnace Fest - Dead Alive: The Restorative Spirit of Furnace Fest in 2022. An image digitally displayed at the Louvre in Paris for the fifth annual Exposure Award 2015. An image published in The Black & White Edition book of the fifth annual Exposure Award 2015. RAW Artists Photographer of the Year Semi Finalist 2013. Images published on Five Iron Frenzy's DVD. Internationally published content on Blindside's Ten Year Anniversary DVD. Published in Fender Catalog Nationally published ad for Audix Microphones Album covers for Flatfoot 56, The Shawn Maxwell Experience, and The Chrysalis Mystery. While primarily focusing on conceptual portraits and editorial styles in her personal work, a shift happened in 2020 with the pandemic. In a full existential crisis with her work evaporated, and thereby much of her personal worth and identity in question, she realized this was an opportunity to expand and grow. Adding metalsmithing and jewelry design to her artist credentials has only increased her love of visual expression and opened up an entirely new medium to explore. When not in the act of creating, she can be found traveling with her fiancé, throwing axes, or cuddling their two cats.
