Born in 1977, based in Japan. Started underwater photography in 2003 using a Nikonos film camera while working at a fisheries high school. Transitioned to digital photography in 2009 and began long-term fieldwork documenting marine ecosystems, especially around Tsuyazaki, Fukuoka. Formerly a high school instructor and advisor of a diving club, guiding students in underwater photography and reaching the final selection of the 2012 Kyushu regional high school photo competition. Certified as a NAUI diving instructor in 2000 and Course Director in 2007. Since 2017, has been working at the Shimoda Marine Research Center, University of Tsukuba, where he produces scientific photographs and videos, supports researchers in the field, and serves as a diving safety officer providing underwater guidance. Since April 2025, he has been enrolled in the Master’s program in the Department of Photography and Imaging at Kyoto University of the Arts, continuing his exploration of the intersection between art and scientific documentation. His photographic exhibitions have been held at community centers and universities. Participated in national marine projects including ocean acidification studies, microplastic surveys (Tara-JAMBIO), and blue carbon research. His photographic work focuses on the silent transformation of coastal environments, such as the loss of seaweed forests due to herbivory and climate change.
