Celestial Ladies
To attend a service at the Celestial Church in West Africa, women devotees wear a white attire and a round hat. On a random walk, I noticed these women resting and chatting, presumably after attending a service, sitting in front of a gray wall where white circles had been painted.
About Artist
France Leclerc
Originally from Canada and now based in Chicago, USA, France Leclerc is a street and documentary photographer drawn to the quiet poetry of everyday life. After years spent in academia, studying human behavior, she turned to photography to explore the same questions with a different language—one of light, gesture and shared space. Her work, which she often described as “life photography’ seeks out the moments where people live, connect, worship, celebrate and endure. Increasingly, it is in the streets that she finds these moments. Her work has been exhibited in a number of venues, more recently at the Paris Prix de la Photographie (2023), the Lens Culture Exhibition in New York City (2024), the Brussels Street Photography Festival (2025), the Dublin Street Photography Festival (2025), the Women Street Photographers (2025) and the Siena International Photo Award festival (2025) and the American Center for Photographers (2025). Her images have been published in Geo Magazine (Germany), Dodho Magazine, Lens Magazine, and All About Photo Magazine.
