Bodyscapes
This series of diptychs explores the profound connection between trees and the human body, revealing that separation is only an illusion. Through anthropomorphic interpretations, the works become an intimate study of belonging and the shared essence of nature and humanity.
About Artist
Dulcie May
From a young age, I was drawn to grey lead pencil drawing and as an adult, I found my creative voice with photography. My work reflects my personal journey as a woman - both physically and emotionally, through an intimate, contemplative approach. I am drawn to figurative, abstract, and narrative-driven pieces that explore identity, femininity, and human connection. Born in Australia with Dutch heritage, I grew up with little connection to my extended family in Holland. It wasn’t until my early twenties that I met a relative who is a sculpture artist. Discovering the artistic thread in my family and the uncanny similarities between us - deepened my drive to express my own figurative style.
