A Gift in Silence
On Christmas morning, Porto was wrapped in silence before celebration. As I walked down an empty street alone, I met an old man. When I gestured to ask for a photo, he smiled and paused. In that moment, I felt gentle warmth—like Santa visiting me. May such quiet gifts fill the world.
About Artist
Rena Kurobe
Photographer based in the Shonan region of Japan. While working as a company employee, she began her photographic practice in 2017. Her work was selected for the APA Award in the Photography category in 2019, and she received the Silver Winner title at the New York Photography Awards in 2024 and at the Global Photography Awards in 2025. In 2020, she held a solo exhibition "Yukari" at the café “POINT WEATHER” in Yokohama. She published her first photobooks in 2025. She mainly photographs everyday scenes, travel landscapes, and portraits, aiming to create works that gently layer a message onto soothing scenes.
