Bio
Pie Aerts is a Dutch photographer with a sincere interest in stories of humans and wildlife coexisting. Through his lens, he examines the intricate relationship between animals, humans and nature in an attempt to explain why we all seem increasingly disconnected from the natural world, each other, and ourselves. As a Canon EMEA Ambassador, he uses his photography to search for the causes of that disconnect on a visual journey towards the essence of our existence. Pie is a firm believer that art can be an incredibly powerful tool in restoring our lost connection and therefore he initiated Prints for Wildlife in 2020, a fundraising model which has up to date generated $ 1.75 million for African wildlife and communities badly hit by Covid. After more than 10 years of fieldwork all across the African continent and beyond as a photographer and as an activist, Pie has developed an intricate understanding, connection and passion for documenting the last wild corners of our planet. His first book, a bestseller, is titled, “Tales from the Roads Less Traveled” and was published by teNeues in 2019.
