"The last gigante of the hell"

Q:

Tell us more about the circumstances of creating your winning photo, “The last gigant of the hell." What inspired you to create your winning work?

A:

I was very tired from having photographed all night waiting for the moment to photograph the biggest and most epic bull.

Finally, he arrived and there he was beaten, burned, and exhausted but [I was] willing to give everything to take that last photograph.

I grabbed my camera with all my strength and threw myself in front of him to photograph the only men who were below receiving the rain of fire and pyrotechnics on their bodies. [I was also] ready to receive and endure all the blows and burns because it is part of the sacrifice to pay when photographing a colossal fire bull.

Q:

Do you have any dream subjects?

A:

I would like to be able to go outside into outer space and take photos of the universe and its wonders.

Q:

What’s next on the horizon for you?

A:

Finish and publish the photobook of my principal project Welcome to hell and make more experimental photos by fusing my two great passions, origami and photography, [to create] a unique and very creative project. Also, [to] make giant photo murals in Mexico City like the French artist JR but with my vision.

Q:

Why do you work in black and white?

A:

I usually work in color most of the time however in some specific projects I really love to work in black and white for the high contrast and the aesthetic of the image, especially when I take photos with film and when I make photo murals in Mexico City.
