"I Love This Game"

My greatest aspiration is to use my artwork to inspire feelings of joy and serenity in those who have experienced it.

Q:

Can you please tell us more about the making of your winning image, “I Love This Game”?

A:

The making of my winning image, "I Love This Game," was part of a larger project called "Moon Game." This project explores our connection to the moon, using it as the main theme. Despite its distant presence, the moon serves as the central motif, inviting viewers to contemplate our connection to it and the imaginative possibilities it inspires. In this particular image, I focused on creating silhouettes and playing with colors to convey a sense of wonder. As I love playing basketball, the idea came to me when I was shooting these raw silhouettes without any manipulations, so I thought, why not bring up the moon and make it look like I am having fun with it. The model in my images is almost always my brother. Working with him was crucial. His understanding of my artistic vision and support made it all come together smoothly. Together, we made sure the final result truly captured what I wanted to express. He understands my vision and helps me always to bring images to life when I need a model on it. After capturing the raw silhouette images, I incorporated the moon from other shots I took and added a basketball hoop converting it as a black vector to blend seamlessly with the silhouette. All conceptual photography processes are carried out using Photoshop. The images were captured in my hometown, Rajince.

Q:

Based on your website, we see that you trained as a computer scientist. How do you think photography relates to this, if at all?

A:

Indeed, my background in computer science has greatly influenced my approach to photography. While initially drawn to photography during high school through experimentation with a digital camera, my affinity for the art form grew as I discovered its intersection with technology. Also, my technical skills acquired through computer science studies have been instrumental in mastering software tools like Photoshop, enabling me to manipulate images and bring my creative visions to life.

Q:

Your subjects seem to range greatly from places like Venice to conceptual images like the winner, “I Love This Game.” With that in mind, how do you choose your subjects? What do they have in common, if anything?

A:

My choice of subjects in photography is driven by a desire to create unique photographs. When I work on conceptual projects, I begin with a clear idea of the final image I wish to achieve. This involves conceptualizing the theme and visual elements, then capturing the necessary images to realize the concept. Post-production manipulation plays a significant role in bringing these ideas to life. In addition to conceptual work, I find joy in capturing the beauty of nature and landscapes during my travels. Whether it's a majestic mountain range or a serene seascape, I am drawn to scenes that evoke a sense of wonder and tranquility. While my subjects may vary, there is a common thread that unites them: careful attention to color composition.

Q:

Who are some photographers that inspire you?

A:

Steve McCurry and Paul Nicklen.

Q:

What are you working on now?

A:

I'm constantly pursuing my passion for photography, capturing new images whenever time allows. Looking ahead, I'm excited about the prospect of organizing a new personal exhibition in the near future.
